  1. These images feel very natural and looks like it is from a movie. Your strongest image is the second and sixth in b&w. I see intimacy very clear in this concept.

  2. 4 and 6 are the strongest images out of this group, they give a sense of intimacy very well. Only suggestion would be to turn of the light in the background in 4 its slightly distracting.
The other images are fine compositionally for the most part but the models don't have the same connection in these pictures as they do in the other two which gives that feeling of intimacy.

  3. I think the images in black & white are really strong. These images work very well for your concept.

  4. My favorite one out of this set is the sixth one. I think you can see the real intimate connection between mom, dad, and the baby. It also looks very natural. I like the second one but it is just a little too bright. The only one that isn't really working is the fourth one and that is just because the light is right behind his head which makes it look a little funny. and the second to last one is a little blurry. Overall its working well.

  5. great subject to cover for intimacy! Honestly i agree about the black and white images in this set give off the emotion of intimacy between the characters in the portrait, it sets that mood. I agree about the images with the light in the background and also some of the images being blurry. Again I like this set!

  6. There is something about some of these images that are too posed even though they are meant to appear natural. Images 1,2,3,4,and 8 work the best in my opinion. Now I know this is probably not good enough of an explanation but it appears that their interaction with the camera, their body language, is what is drawing me to like the image or dislike it. I on the other hand do not favor the black and white over the color images. I feel like they both are great. The lighting used the color images is fresh and the black and white images provide that same tone.
As for the couple in intercourse in your 4th concept I think the images where we can not see the people's expressions work better this is because you actually recognize the male in other pictures and for some reason I think that could possibly screw with the flow of the book. I don't know. I think they should just be bodies. This is because sex is private, and confronting a mans face while he is in the intimate act of sex, seems too bold and risque for lack of a better word than intimate.

  7. You might just need a better camera.

You also have one or two spectacular images per set. Let me point those out to you...

So the preggers set it is image 5. It feels right, looks right and captures the togetherness that will either be forged or broken after the birth of the baby

And the sex set the images are ONE and SIX. One is just terribly erotic and sleazy. It has that frustrating appeal of fashion type photos. Really like it. Next is image six. The flaws of the mirror are apparent. And it makes the scene even more voyeuristic.

    So take more pictures. :)

  8. I think the pregnancy pictures work well for your series. You have some good shots, and the strongest to me is the one with the ice cream and when she's watching TV and holding her "baby".
About the bottom series, it just makes me uncomfortable looking at them. I agree with Drew about them looking a bit sleazy, and I don't think they fit into what you're doing. When you first told us about your intimacy series, you said that you wanted to stay away from the obvious, and to me this is the obvious intimacy. The pictures look very staged, which makes them not look intimate anymore, and I just feel like I'm being creepy and looking at two people getting it on. But the baby ones are very good!

  9. I would agree that that the pregnancy photos work really well for your concept. I think the 6th and 7th show the most intimate scene. For some reason the 3rd and 4th don't seem as intimate, I think you might have just missed the moment although they are still good pictures I would suggest taking a few more with that set up.

  10. These images are strong because of the documentary style of them. However, I think they would be much better if they were a little clearer. I love the idea of you documenting maternity. This is the more "gentle" side of it though. I wonder if maybe you could find some not so lovey pics of what maternity is like....lol. Maybe those would be interesting too?

  11. Hi Sabra,

I swear I wrote something but maybe it hick-upped when I hit post!

So, I sort of like the idea of having many different representations of intimacy travel throughout the book. There is at least one super strong image in all that you have shared with us. We might get bored with a full book of just one direction, ya know? Think about it. (Ultimately it is your call!) But I would offer the idea that you could choose the best One or two (for a full page spread) from each attempt. I dig the make-out pics. They are very strong formally, and it is clear, with your emphasis on the hands that it is not intended to be pornographic, but a captured moment with a couple. The maternity ones could be nice--but they do not have the same formal strength--lighting, focus, color---its off. Idea works tho.

  12. I like the black and white images too, but I'm not sure they need to be b/w. The 5th one is the best in my opinion. They both seem more comfortable in the picture.

  13. I definitely like this series of images. It constrast well from last weeks very sexually intimate photographs to a deeper connection. Two, six, and eight work for me the best. I like the depth of field and also creates a stronger narrative as well as a more "captured moment"!

  14. I think the baby Henry Rollins/Wolverine style facial hair on the guy is a bit too distracting, personally... I think if he were clean-shaven it'd be a lot better. That way I think it'd seem more like "people in love" instead of "dude knocks up woman". This could just be my prejudice against beards talking though. A clean-shaven look suggests he's serious about becoming a family man and finding the kind of work that can support said family. Ehh, I don't know! This is just my 2 cents.
